More and more organisations are discovering agile ways of working for themselves – often in the form of design thinking. Design thinking brings project teams together with people from the most varied fields and positions, with the aim of developing innovative problem solutions. Through the different areas of expertise and ways of thinking, dynamic processes develop that continuously orient themselves to the needs and experiences of users.

The design thinking approach
Variable spatial concepts emerge for creative interaction and transparent information exchange. The approach in design thinking is flexible, and the iterative process allows deviation from and repetition of typical process steps.
User needs in focus
The focus is always on the users and their needs. Following these needs, we develop a prototype as a team. This can be shown and used. This prototype is made to help others understand the actual problem and get excited about the new ideas. The goal of all activities is to gain realistic, user-oriented insights that produce an optimal result from the user's perspective.
Our clients come to us with a problem, usually with at least a vague idea of a solution. Together, though, we take a step back with them and redefine problem or product from different perspectives. We try to understand mechanisms and structures behind it. Take for example a client wanting to establish or market a new tariff. But he doesn't yet know how to present it and implement it on website. In workshop we take a different, a new perspective. In doing so we usually recognise that problems lie elsewhere and so solution has to be different too. We redefine problem statement. With this shared gain in insight and energy that arises from it, we continue working together. And we find a quick solution to our client's problem.

Ulrich Weinberg – pioneer of design thinking
The intellectual pioneer and forward thinker behind design thinking is Ulrich Weinberg of the HPI School of Design Thinking in Potsdam. There, he runs the postgraduate programme of the same name, "Design Thinking". The programme brings together students from every discipline who develop software products in project teams, with users and their needs at the centre.
With this focus, projects at interactive tools are also implemented. Our agile, user-centred design approach to projects and processes follows DIN EN ISO 9241-210 Human-Centred Design for Interactive Systems as well as design thinking methods. In our UX & Design Thinking Lab we therefore develop only digital projects tailored to users' needs.
