GKV-SV website awarded for accessible web design
3 min read

The website developed by interactive tools for the GKV-Spitzenverband (GKV-SV) was included in the 90plus list of the BIK project series. The 90plus list presents well-accessible web offerings for people with disabilities, and the agencies that designed and built them.

Accessible information platform for all statutorily insured persons
The GKV-SV is the central representative body for statutory health and long-term care insurance funds in Germany. Its website serves as the central information platform for all 70 million statutorily insured people in Germany.
The website we delivered was included in the 90plus list from BIK. As a long-standing partner agency, alongside the website we've also implemented various topic portals, web forms, the extranet and the e-magazine for GKV-SV — always built on the stable, powerful FirstSpirit CMS. The website is easy to understand for all target groups and fully accessible throughout. From design to concept to usability, user needs and accessibility were always front and centre.
Accessibility enables all people to use web offerings without restrictions. In doing so, it not only creates better solutions for everyone and improves usability, but also has a positive effect on SEO (search engine optimisation) and the usability of a website. Accessible design, for example, allows blind users to have content read aloud via special devices and to navigate the website using the keyboard.
