Stiftung Warentest UX optimization
UX optimization for the new fund finder
Stiftung Warentest conducts independent tests in areas such as multimedia and household goods, nutrition and health, and finance and insurance. The foundation purchases all test products anonymously from retailers and evaluates services undercover. The UX research team at interactive tools supported Stiftung Warentest during the development of the new fund finder on test.de. This tool allows users to find and compare over 3,500 funds rated by Finanztest experts.

Users in focus
User orientation is a central concern for Stiftung Warentest - many Germans trust the foundation and base important purchasing decisions on its test verdicts. As part of optimising the new fund product finder, interactive tools developed a user-centred UX optimisation process for Stiftung Warentest, consisting of a combination of iterative expert reviews and usability tests. This produced concrete, actionable recommendations for action and optimisation, with the aim of making the new product finder easier to use.

Tests in our in-house UX lab
A UX research team from interactive tools supported and advised Stiftung Warentest during the development of the new fund finder on test.de. Staff from the foundation were closely and transparently integrated into the project work - thereby becoming part of an interdisciplinary UX team themselves.

UX designers and usability experts analysed the fund finder for optimisation potential in terms of information architecture and design. Specific questions for subsequent usability tests were also identified in the process. Users were then brought in at the in-house UX Lab, testing the website for comprehensibility and conformity to expectations. This also examined which features users find particularly useful or where concrete added value is needed. For this, interactive tools used testing methods such as eye tracking, in-depth interviews and think-aloud protocols.
Successful launch
In July, the new "Fund Finder" was launched on test.de, in whose development interactive tools supported the Stiftung with an interdisciplinary UX approach from the outset. The fund finder's unique selling point is over 3,500 funds rated by Finanztest experts, which can be easily found and compared interactively. In addition, funds can be saved and tracked within the application – notifications and alerts help users optimise their own fund portfolio. The fund finder appeals to experienced investors as well as interested newcomers exploring alternative investment options for the first time.
