Pioneer in high-quality pet food: mera wants to stay ahead of digital transformation
mera is a family-owned company that has been producing high-quality pet food for three generations. With a curated and sustainable online assortment of top brands for pet food, it pampers the four-legged family members.
In the summer of 2021, mera approached us with various digital topics. Based on our wide-ranging portfolio, expertise, and special know-how in e-commerce, we were able to convince mera of a partnership. We quickly began working in close cooperation, first strategically and then operationally, for mera.

Digital Readiness Check and IT roadmap as the foundation of the collaboration
In the first step, a Digital Readiness Check was conducted. It aimed to determine the company's level of digitization. The check revealed challenges that suggested specific action recommendations. Several fields of action were identified where we could provide consulting or support, including e-commerce, PIM, and UX/UI adjustments.
The strategy developed from the check led to organizational changes at mera, which we accompanied in an advisory capacity. Based on the Digital Readiness Check, a cross-departmental IT roadmap and a tech blueprint were developed.

Implementation of the tech blueprint in the areas of PIM, e-commerce, analytics, UX/UI, and managed service
We compiled a list of action measures in the environmentPIM, e-commerce, analytics, UX/UIandmanaged service, which was then systematically worked through together based on priority. A central task was the implementation of the PIM project. The system mera was using at the time could not be used efficiently, especially noticeable in the outputs to specialist retailers. The reason was the constantly changing requirements for the system. The existing PIM urgently needed to be adapted for mera to remain attractive to its customers in the future and for product data to be quickly and efficiently available in the store. A flexible and future-proof PIM system was required. The decision was made for Contentserv.
The implementation of the new PIM system brought immense benefits, for example in central data management. All product information is now collected, organized, and managed in one place. This facilitates the work of the teams responsible for product data and minimizes the effort for data entry and management. The data quality has also been improved. The new system with its automated workflows and rules for data entry and validation ensures that all product information is consistent and accurate. Moreover, product data management, such as creating product catalogs, updating prices, and managing images and videos, achieves significantly better results.
In the B2C segment, mera needs to have a very strong customer focus to maximize revenue through the webshop. Therefore, it was necessary to work on branding and brand value presentation. Above all, the corporate design should be revised and the web presence optimized. A consistent brand identity and an appealing design leave a professional and serious impression on the customer. We provided a design draft for this.
In this context, UX/UIadjustments were also to be made. Improvements were implemented, and the B2C and B2B bookstore was optimized. With a customer-centric UX, mera can now better analyze customer behavior. The adjusted UI made it possible to create an intuitively operable user interface for the customer. Together, these can increase sales through the webshop, as a positive user experience is the basis of customer loyalty. The improved UX/UIsolutions bring advantages for user experience. Easy navigation, clear product descriptions, and fast loading times ensure that visitors stay longer on the website. A simple ordering process leads to higher sales and conversions and ensures a positive shopping experience.

meras employees should also be enabled to independently analyze and reliably calculate ROAS and ROI based on revenue data from the various marketing channels. To show meaningful results and determine which specific returns can be achieved from the respective advertising expenditures, we built various dashboards using Google Analytics. The company is now able to capture and interpret the data transparently.
Besides various adjustments to the e-commerce system, the managed service was moved to our Managed Commerce-Shopware Cloud. This minimized the risk of IT failures and security issues for mera. There are no long downtimes in the store. We proactively identify technical issues and resolve them before they result in downtime or system interruptions. Furthermore, scaling the online store can be done in minutes when more traffic is detected. As an external managed service provider, we are responsible for the management and operation of the IT infrastructure and the webshop.
With us, mera has an experienced contact and tech provider on its side. For mera, collaboration with us has brought significant added value both strategically and operationally.
Through synaigy's Digital Readiness Check, we were able to identify some operational and strategic areas of action. Aside from a PIM project and several e-commerce and UX/UI adjustments, synaigy successfully supports us in managed service. I highly value the partnership and long-term collaboration on equal terms.
